Our client based in Guinee is looking for an experienced Water /Wastewater engineer to join their team. The Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, and implementing projects related to water and wastewater treatment systems. The role will work in collaboration with a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the efficient and effective operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities. This role requires technical expertise in engineering principles, environmental regulations, and project management.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop water and wastewater treatment systems, including the selection and sizing of equipment, calculations, and hydraulic modelling.
- Conduct engineering evaluations and feasibility studies for water and wastewater projects, analyzing data and identifying potential issues or improvements.
- Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Mentor process engineers via guidance and knowledge transfer in a teamwork environment.
- Conduct plant (process) audits and provide process expertise for troubleshooting and operations optimization on our client's contract
- Interact with mechanical, droughting, civil, electrical and control systems engineering disciplines on engineering studies and tenders
- Utilize a sound knowledge of water and wastewater treatment technologies to provide technical support to Industrial clients and internal business partners.
- Develop and strengthen the company's Water Treatment Technical portfolio through implementation of Veolia Technologies, industry best practices and tools.
- Conduct plant audits and manage the design component of Engineering Studies.
- Provide process expertise for troubleshooting and operations optimization on LENSE CORPS O&M contracts.
- Mentor Process Engineers in the company
- Sign off on concept/basic/detail process designs produced for complex projects, as applicable
- Lead a team of engineers, technicians and draughtsman to accomplish the above, all within the agreed constraints of time, costs and quality
- Preparation of conceptual process engineering design deliverables for tenders and studies i.e Process Design Basis document, Process Description and Process Flow Diagrams etc.
- Participating in HAZOP/HAZAN studies, value engineering exercises and design reviews if required
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.
- Supervise and oversee the construction and installation of water and wastewater treatment systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Perform field inspections and assessments of existing water and wastewater infrastructure to identify maintenance and improvement needs.
- Research and stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in water and wastewater engineering.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a collaborative and learning environment.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources, ensuring effective project delivery within established timelines and financial constraints.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering. A master's degree is preferred.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering, preferably in the design and construction of treatment systems.
- Proficiency in engineering software, such as AutoCAD, hydraulic modeling software, and data analysis tools.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and permit requirements related to water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Strong project management skills, with a demonstrated track record of successfully managing and delivering engineering projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Speaking and writing French will be an advantage.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and participate in site inspections and meetings as required.
